Exclusive Insights into El Koudia's Premier Partridge Shoot

The El Koudia partridge shoot in Morocco has been a hub of activity as preparations ramp up for the 2024/2025 shooting season. Renowned as the premier partridge shoot in Morocco, every detail has been meticulously planned to ensure the upcoming season surpasses expectations.

One of the most significant off-season projects was the construction of an onsite keeper’s house, which has brought immense advantages to the estate's management. Previously, the gamekeeper lived 35 minutes away in the city, but now, with the head keeper residing on the grounds, there is continuous, real-time oversight of the land and game.

This change not only improves the overall efficiency but also strengthens communication and coordination with the rest of the team, ensuring any necessary tasks are addressed swiftly. The investment in the new house further reflects El Koudia’s commitment to solidifying its position as Morocco’s top partridge shoot.

The timing of the house’s construction couldn’t have been better. During the off-season, JM Osborne Rural & Sporting (the sister company of WPS) was tasked with recruiting a new head keeper, as the previous one, after establishing the shoot, retired. Recognising that good housing is essential for attracting and retaining top-tier keepers, particularly for those moving to a new country, the estate designed and built a new house to accommodate the keeper and their family.

After a thorough recruitment process, which included multiple interviews and site visits, Les was appointed as the new head keeper. With years of experience managing prestigious estates in the UK, Les brings a fresh perspective and a wealth of knowledge in gamebird management, habitat conservation, and predator control. His hands-on approach and expertise in driven partridge shooting will not only maintain but elevate El Koudia’s high standards, ensuring both challenging and sustainable sport while also developing new drives across the estate.

El Koudia is not only recognised for its exceptional shooting but also for its top-tier hospitality. In preparation for the new season, the hospitality team has been fine-tuning all aspects of the guest experience. A particular focus has been on the shoot day menu, where guests can expect a gourmet blend of traditional Moroccan cuisine alongside familiar home-style dishes, ensuring there is something for everyone.

All of this is just a glimpse of the work that has been happening behind the scenes to further elevate the El Koudia experience. There is a real buzz around the new season and the Estate has enjoyed great bookings, with around 30 shoot days confirmed.

As the season kicks off, only limited availability remains, with one full trip and a few individual pegs on the 14th & 15th of February 2025 still to offer.
