Social Media - The Future For Promoting Wild Meat

How We Can Harness Social Media To Promote Wild Meat?

Social media can open us up to new audiences that we never usually interact with.

One of the ways we try and promote game to new audiences is through our work with social media influencers. In January we did our annual Influencer Game Education Day at Vale House Kitchen. We spend several weeks researching influencers that we want to engage with; are their followers actually real? Do they engage with a different audience to ours? And most importantly are they willing to talk about game on their social media platforms (you would be surprised how many are still too scared to)?

Well we hit the jackpot when we asked Tom Radford aka EatTheCountry along because across his social media platforms, he has just over 344,000 followers from across the globe. He recently did a video about working with our wild meat and it has racked up 550,000 views on TikTok. You can also listen to Tom and me discussing the perils of social media and wild meat on the Eat Wild podcast.

Last week, we shared a video of breasting a partridge and then turning it into a sandwich similar to the ones seen in Pret A Manger, and the response has been fantastic. On TikTok, we have surpassed 60,000 views, and on Instagram, we are approaching 10,000. It's mind-boggling that a recipe for a sandwich can have such an impact, but it shows the interest in wild meat is out there; we just need to use modern methods to reach it.
